Step 1: Open the Instagram.
Open the Instagram application on your phone for a start.

Click on the three-horizontal-line icon, it is situated at the top right corner of your profile.
Step 4: Go into the settings
Select the Settings item from the menu that appears.
Step 5: Go to the Privacy Option
Choose ‘Privacy’ from the ‘Settings’ menu.
Step 6: People Privacy Statement
On the ‘Connections’ link, a little button of ‘Account Privacy’ will be found. Tap on it.
Step 7: Swap over to a Personal Account
Turn on the private account button. By doing that it will set your account to private, and only the followers will be able to see your feed and a following list.
Important note: Instagram does not stipulate you to secrete your following list from your followers in particular. The only way to prevent people from viewing your following list is by switching your account to the private setting. Therefore, you can control visibility by adding persons you approve to access your posts or following list.
